Blog Journal 7

I think that class pages are needed and can be useful for students, staff, and parents. I visited the FSUS school website. The type of information that you will see on the page depends on grade level and the teacher. When visiting a page for a second-grade class, I saw newsletters, information about the teacher, maps, and a welcome page.

I envision myself using technology the best way I know-how. I like the idea of having a class page. I think that it will help to keep me organized. I will also use electronic calendars so that I can set reminders and have them accessible. So far, I have used Grammarly and I think that I will continue to use it. I will use tools that are easy to use and understand, but the most important reason for using tools would be to help me be more efficient

PB work is a great site to use. However, it is a bit complicated to learn how to use it. Joining my team members page was a bit of a challenge. I like how the site was easy to navigate, once the work was completed. I dislike how confusing the site was to use at first. I could use a wiki if I taught high school students to mimic social media in a way, but also provide them with easy access to resources. So, I would be the owner of the page and have my students add anything that they feel is useful or beneficial.

Down below I have included a link and a screenshot for the class website.

 Hello there!

So far my experience with Diigo has been a learning journey. Before this class I was unfamiliar with Diigo. I like that Diigo is like an archive of information. I think if a group of teachers used Diigo it would be very beneficial and save them time when looking for resources.

Blogging has been great so far. I have never had to manage a blog for a class. However, because of the popularity of blogs I see the usefulness of having a blog for this class. I do not like that sometimes I have to log in to make a comment on other people’s blogs. Overall, I am learning a lot managing my blog so I like it.

An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I might use when teaching is Edmodo. I remember being in middle school when Edmodo was introduced to me. I personally really like it and I think it is easy to use and very beneficial. I like that parents can be a part of the classroom community as well. Edmodo allows parents, teachers, and students to make an account. It has many resources available on the site and an option to create a free account for its users. Overall, I think it is very practical for the times that we are in.

Blog Journal 5

Hello!

So far my experience using Twitter has been okay. I have lost my password and username a few times. However, I have been able to post and follow people with ease. I have interacted with Professor Choi and other classmates so far. I found Twitter to be beneficial for sharing what is on my mind. I think it will teach me how to connect with others in a more sociable way outside of work.

The digital divide is omnipresent in our society even though we live in a digital world. Electronics can be expensive and inaccessible to groups of people. The digital divide causes students to fail behind their peers in school. The causes of the digital divide can be age and resources. As a second grade teacher, I may have students who are very young and are not used to using technology in a classroom.

Academic software includes things that stimulate students and further their understanding of certain material. The two software tools I would like to implement in my future classroom educational games and apps. I think that these two software programs will be very beneficial because I will be teaching young students. Educational games and apps are very easy to use at their age. The difference between the two is that a game is just for fun or entertainment purposes. Apps are more functional and allow you to do things like create, save and change.

Hello!

The ELA standards are the standards used to measure students' ability and demonstrate mastery of literature. I am interested in becoming an elementary school teacher, preferably second-grade students. One ELA standard for second-grade students is creating recordings of literature; add images or other visual tools to literature or narrations when needed to explain ideas, thoughts, or emotions. I feel prepared to implement this standard based on my current skill set because I love animation and storytelling. I think that I am good at retelling stories once I grasp an understanding of the story.

After looking on the CPALMS website a tool/resource that I would use for my second-grade classroom is the Telling Time with Tomas activity. In this activity students use a previously learned skill set counting by 5’s to tell time. I would use this tool/resource because after reviewing it I found it to be really interesting and interactive. Also, in many of the tools/resources on this website, the previously learned skill set is also reviewed which I think will be very beneficial to students.

Internet searching is very important. Internet searching provides its user with easy and quick access to information they may have not known previously or needed quickly. As a teacher, it is important to be proficient as a teacher because you will be put in a situation where you need to find information quickly and be able to present it correctly. This week I learned how to use the reverse image search tool.
