Blog Journal 3

Hello!

Copyright is defined as the right to reproduce, modify, share a work. Fair use allows for individuals to copy work for nonprofit educational purposes. Fair use also focuses on how much is copied and the impact. As a teacher, I would explain the concepts to my students to ensure understanding. I would emphasize the importance of originality and model this in my classroom.

Cyberbullying and student privacy are big issues when it comes to technology implementation in the classroom. A solution to cyberbullying is limiting the use of platforms where students are often bullied in classrooms. For example, I would use google classroom instead of social media sites so that I can monitor student activity. A solution to student privacy can be informing students of the dangers of technology. Also, having students add necessary information to the technology they are using decreases incidents where student privacy would be an issue.

This week I completed a newsletter for a second-grade classroom. I learned how to add a border, shade a portion of the page, and create a banner using Canva. In the future, I would improve my Newsletter by creating a special template to use. After creating this newsletter I could see where sections would remain the same by having different information. Overall, the skills that I learned could be used in my future career to help me create newsletters for my future students.

Here is a screenshot of my newsletter:

Blog Journal 2

Hello! I typically enjoy using Microsoft Word. My K-12 experience was both positive and negative. The tools available in MS word made it easy to format papers. MS Word was a bit harder for me to use at that time as I still had to get familiar with a lot of the functions. However, my experience here at Florida State was both positive and negative. The MS word online that FSU offers to its students for free does not have a lot of the needed functions to use it successfully. Despite this, because I am more experienced with MS Word, I can use a lot of its functions better. Honestly, before apps were available I would have preferred to use Google docs. However, I can download the software app on my phone and use it, if I do not have access to a computer.

The ISTE stands for International Society for Technology in Education. There are a set of standards for students, teachers, educational leaders, technology coaches, and computer science educators. These standards are for technology use in education.  The standard that is most meaningful to me is being a leader. Being a leader can be defined as someone who looks for ways to use leadership to support student empowerment and success and for ways to improve teaching and learning.

Today youth are being classified as digital natives. I think that youth can be classified as digital natives. However, I do think that there are other generations apart of the population who are not youth but they are digital natives. To be a digital native means that you are someone who has a strong relationship with technology. Differences that I have seen with digital natives and digital immigrants is the skills and awareness of certain technologies. This difference negatively affected my learning experiences at times. I think as a future teacher I have to be ready to be constantly learning about the new technologies available. My students will have access to things that I may not need to have access to. However, I will have to be aware of these things to be a better educator.

Blog Post #1

My name is Victoria Decius. I am from Orlando Fl, and I have 5 other siblings. My favorite color is purple, and my favorite food is macaroni and cheese. I am a senior majoring in Family and Child Sciences with a minor in Education and Entrepreneurship. I love listening to music and watching movies during my free time.

Using technology in the educational setting has become very popular in the latter half of the last decade. I have used technology such as Lenovo laptops during my high school career and my Chromebook laptop during my time here at Florida State. Overall my experiences have been pretty positive and beneficial for my future career. I have learned how to surf the web, create files, and do projects such as creating PowerPoint.

Currently, I want to gain more experience in the classroom setting actively teaching and learning more about business. So far, I have only done field experience in the classroom setting and taken coursework to learn about teaching and business. My personal learning network includes online sources such as Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. On these sites, I can connect to people who are aspiring to be teachers and individuals who are interested in business or starting one. Offline sources in my network include books, professors, and classmates.
